In early 2007, the then UN Special Adviser on Sport for Development and Peace, Under-Secretary-General Adolf Ogi, initiated a process to develop recommendations for the future strategic focus of multilateral efforts for sport for development and peace. Urs Zollinger facilitated this process and - in close consultation with key actors and stakeholders in New York and Geneva - drafted recommendations for the attention of the new UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. Based on these recommendations, he also provided advice on the future institutional set-up of the UN Special Adviser's office and support to the preparation of an annual Strategic Plan 2008.
